The story behind Stoneform

Built through years of earning trust on jobs where mistakes weren't an option.

Alex's path to Stoneform Landscapes wasn't a straight one. It's the product of a multi-decade career, and landscaping was only one part of it. He spent time managing large-scale hardscape installations and landscape maintenance programs inside a national franchise — work that built real, hands-on knowledge of reforestation and permaculture principles uncommon on typical maintenance routes. Long before he built a landscaping company of his own, the rest of that career unfolded somewhere else entirely.

That other chapter runs deep. Alex holds a Class 1 commercial license with a clean driving abstract — the qualification that let him move equipment, materials, and drill rigs to and from every site he worked on, including hard-to-reach, challenging work environments. He can run nearly anything with an engine on a job site: excavators, loaders, full truck-and-trailer combinations, and drilling rigs among them. Much of that time was spent on drilling programs alongside hydrogeologists and engineers across Metro Vancouver, the Lower Mainland, and British Columbia, completing hundreds of water well and soil sampling projects — field-tested understanding of groundwater behaviour, soil types, and stratigraphy that informs every drainage and hardscape decision.

He also carries extensive experience in controlled demolition and abatement — precision concrete cutting and coring, engineered containment systems, and specialized demolition work carried out on and around many of the Lower Mainland's major infrastructure projects and buildings. It's an unusual resume for a landscaping company, and that's exactly the point. Every drainage plan Stoneform designs, every retaining wall it builds, and every grading job it takes on is shaped by someone who has already spent a career being trusted with the ground itself.

What ties all of it together isn't just the range of skills — it's the appetite behind them. Alex has spent his career chasing the next thing to learn, the next system to understand, the next way to do a job better. That same curiosity is what Stoneform brings to your property: not just experience, but a standing commitment to keep improving and to deliver the best possible result, every time.

I've spent a career being trusted with the ground itself. That's what every Stoneform job is built on.
